Chief Black Fish’s men captured Daniel Boone * who later escaped. At the
Battle of Blue Licks on the Licking River in Kentucky country, a musket ball
shattered Boone's ankle and he was taken to the Miami villages where Black
Fish adopted Dan'l. Six months later, Boone escaped and ran all the way back
to Boonesboro on that ankle that had yet to properly heal. Black Fish gathered
his men together and gave chase; attacking Boonesboro and laying siege.
Lacking the siege attitude, the Indians left after several days.
